Dear Fellow Arnisadors and Arnisadoras,
Welcome to CTMAJ! I am very excited to expand our program throughout New England and beyond!
I have many reasons for expanding the program. Modern Arnis is an art that’s close to my heart for many reasons. I love the art because it blends so well with so many other styles of Martial Arts and because it has helped fill so many gaps in my training.
I enjoyed many years of training in Modern Arnis with people from so many different places and backgrounds and I value the different perspectives that each person has brought to the training.
I have also learned so much more than just martial arts from my mentors such as my first teacher Shihan Eric Alexander, and then Grandmaster Remy A. Presas. I think that many of the greatest practitioners have also brought a spiritual aspect to the training.
Modern Arnis is also close to my heart because I had the great fortune to learn the Art straight from the person that founded the art. Having my material checked regularly by Professor Presas was a thrill and an honor. The Professor constantly encouraged me to teach others what I have learned, to help the art grow, to make the art my own, and he wanted everyone to train and be happy. It is in that spirit that CTMAJ operates.
